Man Dies After Tragic Incident at Hahei Beach in New Zealand

A man has died following a water-related incident at Hahei Beach in the Coromandel region of New Zealand on March 18, 2024. Emergency services responded to reports of a man in distress in the water at approximately 15:15. Despite the rapid response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a police spokesperson, emergency services were alerted after a call indicated that a man required assistance while swimming. Witnesses reported seeing the man struggling in the water. Emergency responders, including one helicopter and one ambulance from Hato Hone St John, were dispatched along with a first response unit and an operational manager.

Upon reaching the beach, emergency personnel managed to bring the man ashore; however, he was in critical condition. Despite their best efforts, he could not be revived.
