Airbus has made a significant announcement, revealing an order for 100 aircraft from VietJet Air during the Paris Air Show. This order, placed on October 10, 2023, marks the largest for the company this year, following the recent delivery of 78 aircraft to various clients.

Details of the Order and Recent Deliveries

The order comes after a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two companies in June at the Paris event. In addition to the substantial order from VietJet, Airbus also received orders for 12 other aircraft in October, bringing the total number of orders for the month to 112.

In a productive month, Airbus delivered 78 aircraft to 36 customers, increasing the total deliveries for the year to 585 aircraft across 85 destinations. The company’s strategy has historically seen a concentration of deliveries towards the end of the year, necessitating the production of 235 aircraft in the final two months to meet its ambitious target of delivering 820 aircraft by the end of 2025.

Production Goals and Historical Context

Airbus is ramping up its production capabilities compared to 2024, where it delivered 766 aircraft. The company is steadily working towards returning to pre-COVID-19 production levels. In 2019, prior to the disruptions caused by the pandemic, Airbus successfully delivered 863 aircraft.

This recent order and the ongoing production efforts reflect Airbus’s commitment to meeting market demands and recovering from the challenges faced by the aviation industry. As the airline industry continues to recover, Airbus aims to solidify its position in the global aviation market.
