Split Enz to Tour New Zealand After Electric Avenue Reunion
Iconic New Zealand band Split Enz has announced a tour of New Zealand, marking their first performances in nearly two decades. The announcement follows the band’s reunion at the Electric Avenue Festival in Christchurch over the weekend, where they captivated an audience of 45,000 fans. Original members Tim Finn, Eddie Rayner, Neil Finn, and Noel Crombie will take their show on the road, performing in Wellington and Auckland in early May 2024.
The upcoming concerts, part of the Forever Enz Tour, will see the band play at TSB Arena in Wellington on May 6 and at Spark Arena in Auckland on May 9. This tour offers long-awaited performances for fans, as the band’s last concert in New Zealand occurred in 2008.
Founded in 1972, Split Enz gained international recognition after relocating to Australia in 1975. Their blend of rock and new wave music has garnered a dedicated following over the years. Before the Christchurch show, they announced a series of Australian dates for May, which left many fans in New Zealand eager for further announcements.
The reunion at the Electric Avenue Festival was a significant moment for both the band and its fans. The energy in the crowd reflected the excitement surrounding the band’s return to the stage. Many attendees expressed their joy at seeing the original lineup perform together again, a nostalgic experience for those who have followed the band since its inception.
Tickets for the New Zealand shows are expected to be in high demand. Fans are encouraged to secure their spots early, as the band’s previous performances have often sold out quickly. This tour not only highlights the enduring legacy of Split Enz but also signifies a return to live music events that many have missed in recent years.
The Forever Enz Tour promises to deliver a memorable experience for audiences, combining classic hits with the band’s unique flair. As anticipation builds, fans look forward to celebrating the music of Split Enz once again on home soil.
