Philippe Bossert has taken on the role of Executive Chef, while Kimberly Pummer steps in as Pastry Chef. Their appointments signal a commitment to elevating the dining experience through innovative and authentic culinary practices.
Philippe Bossert: A Culinary Virtuoso
Philippe Bossert, a distinguished Maitre Cuisinier de France, brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new position. His culinary journey commenced at the age of 16, beginning with an internship at the renowned Auberge de l’Ill. Under the guidance of the Haeberlin brothers, he cultivated a deep appreciation for quality ingredients and authentic flavors.
Throughout his career, Chef Bossert has worked alongside culinary legends such as Alain Ducasse, Emile Jung, and Yannick Alléno. His global experience spans continents, including stints in France, Russia, Africa, the Indian Ocean, and London, among others. This diverse background enriches his culinary perspective, allowing him to integrate regional elements with international sophistication.
Chef Bossert’s remarkable portfolio includes preparing meals for high-profile individuals, including Boris Becker and President Vladimir Putin. His culinary ambition at The Chedi Katara is to create dishes that reflect his Alsatian heritage while embracing the local flavors and ingredients of Qatar. This blend of authenticity and innovation is expected to elevate the resort’s dining experiences significantly.
Kimberly Pummer: A Rising Star in Pastry
Kimberly Pummer joins the team as Pastry Chef, bringing German precision and creativity to her role. Her expertise was honed during an apprenticeship at Kaefer Berlin, where she mastered chocolate artistry and crafted exquisite desserts for the German Parliament.
Pummer’s career path includes leadership positions at prestigious establishments, most recently at Fauchon Paris Restaurant at The St. Regis Doha. Her experience encompasses both classic techniques and modern innovations, showcasing her versatility and technical brilliance in high-pressure environments.
At The Chedi Katara, Pummer aims to combine her artistic vision with culinary excellence, further enhancing the resort’s reputation for exceptional desserts and pastries. Together with Chef Bossert, she will play a vital role in defining the culinary identity of the hotel.
