Man Dies After Water Incident at Hahei Beach in Coromandel

A man has died following a water-related incident at Hahei Beach in the Coromandel region on Monday afternoon. Emergency services responded to reports of a man in distress in the water at approximately 15:15. Despite immediate assistance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a spokesperson from the police, emergency services were alerted to the situation near Tutaritari Rd after bystanders reported that a man required help. Upon arrival, rescuers brought the man ashore in critical condition.

A representative from Hato Hone St John confirmed that the response team included one helicopter, one ambulance, a first response unit, and an operational manager to manage the situation. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
