Man Armed with Samurai Sword Attempts Porsche Theft in Wellington
A man allegedly attempted to steal a Porsche from a multimillion-dollar property in Wellington, New Zealand, while armed with a samurai sword. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m. The 54-year-old suspect is also accused of attacking a man with the weapon during the attempted theft.
According to the New Zealand Police, officers responded to reports of a man entering a residence on Anne Street with a “long-bladed weapon.” Upon arrival, police engaged the suspect, who has since been charged with aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon. The stolen vehicle, a Porsche, was parked at the property, which has an estimated value between $2 million and $3 million.
The alleged assailant is scheduled to appear in the Wellington District Court on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect, and further details regarding the incident are still under investigation.
Witnesses reported hearing shouting and the sound of a struggle, raising concerns about safety in the area. Local residents expressed shock at the violent nature of the attempted theft, emphasizing the importance of community security.
