Te Tai Pari Trust Allocates Nearly $400,000 for Community Projects
The Te Tai Pari Trust has announced a funding allocation of nearly $400,000 aimed at supporting community initiatives in Waitara. During a meeting on October 6, 2023, trustees confirmed that a total of $393,713 will be available in the upcoming funding round, which will remain open until June 30, 2026. This amount surpasses the grants distributed in the previous year, which totaled $308,036.
The trust has previously indicated ambitions to increase its annual funding distribution to $1 million in the future. The latest distribution is intended to bolster various community projects, including educational institutions, local sports clubs, and social services such as food banks. In 2025, successful applicants included several schools and community organizations that serve the Waitara area.
Organizations and individuals interested in applying for this funding have until February 28, 2026, to submit their proposals. The Te Tai Pari Trust, established under the New Plymouth District Council (Waitara Lands) Act, is designed to foster the health and wellbeing of the local community and its natural resources, including the river.
This initiative reflects the trust’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the social and economic landscape of Waitara, providing valuable resources to groups that aim to make a positive impact in the region. The increase in available funds signals a proactive approach to meeting community needs as they evolve.
