Major Renovation Project Launches at New World Waitara Supermarket
A significant renovation project for the New World Waitara supermarket has been announced, set to commence shortly. This transformation of the sole supermarket in Waitara, located on Queen St, is expected to take several months, with completion targeted for September 2026.
Details of the Renovation
The renovation will involve extensive modifications both inside and outside the building. Key improvements will include seismic strengthening, which aims to enhance the structural integrity of the supermarket. Additionally, a new refrigeration system will be installed, along with upgrades to the bakery and deli departments, addressing both efficiency and customer experience.
Changes to the store’s layout will feature new flooring and shelving, creating a more inviting shopping environment. The exterior of the supermarket will also see enhancements, including the construction of undercover parking on one side of the building and a fresh coat of paint.
Operational Impact and Timeline
Despite the scale of the renovations, New World Waitara will remain operational throughout the construction period. This decision is intended to minimize disruption for customers who rely on the supermarket for their daily shopping needs. Owner Craig Williams has emphasized his commitment to maintaining service during the renovation, ensuring that community needs are met while improvements are underway.
As the project begins, local residents and regular customers can look forward to a revitalized shopping experience that aims to enhance both convenience and quality.
