Students Showcase Local Designers in Dunedin Fashion Fundraiser

Students at John McGlashan College in Dunedin are preparing to grace the runway as part of their arts fundraiser, Fashion @ McGlashan. This event promises to highlight local talent, featuring apparel from renowned Dunedin designers and boutiques, including Plume, Charmaine Reveley, and Repertoire. The runway show is scheduled to take place in the school’s chapel at 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Among the participating students is Ben Eckhoff, a Year 13 student with prior experience performing on stage. Having participated in Theatrefest, he expressed confidence in his ability to walk the ramp. “It’s the same thing really. You’re acting down a runway except just in different costumes,” he explained. Although he admits he is not the most fashionable, Eckhoff enjoys dressing well, often opting for a pair of baggy jeans, a hoodie, and his favorite hat.
Eckhoff stated that preparing for the runway has been an enjoyable experience. “I’ve been having a lot of fun learning how to walk down a runway,” he said. He feels rewarded to contribute to the arts, especially after being part of various school productions. The proceeds from the event will support the arts programs and facilities at John McGlashan College.
The anticipation for this event is palpable as students and staff alike look forward to a night celebrating creativity and community spirit. The runway will not only feature student models but also showcase the unique designs that reflect Dunedin’s vibrant fashion scene.
As the date approaches, excitement builds for what promises to be a memorable evening, combining fashion, talent, and a commitment to the arts.
