Qatar’s U-21 3×3 Basketball Teams Kick Off European League

Qatar’s under-21 men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams are set to commence their campaigns in the fourth leg of the U21 European Nations League for Youth, starting today in Debrecen, Hungary. The tournament features national teams from several countries, including France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, and Romania.

Leading the Qatari delegation is Yassin Ismail, Director of National 3×3 Basketball Teams, with support from Coach Marco. The men’s team will compete in Group 2, facing off against Romania and the Czech Republic today. Their first match is against Romania, followed by a second clash with the Czech Republic later in the day.

The men’s roster includes players such as Mohamed Hashem, Sultan Abu Issa, Bassam Hajar, and Issa Al-Attar. Meanwhile, the women’s team is also in Group 2, set to play against Ukraine and France. They will kick off their tournament today against Ukraine before taking on France later.

The women’s lineup features Sarah Al-Maadheed, Dima Al-Jassim, Dana Suleiman, and Fatima Jamal Abdullah. Currently, the men’s team ranks second in the tournament standings with 648.881 points, trailing behind leaders France, who have accumulated 1,002.620 points.

Current Standings and Team Performance

The Czech Republic holds the third position with 536.950 points, followed by Ukraine in fourth with 510.606 points, Hungary in fifth with 427.345 points, and Romania in sixth with 408.897 points. The men’s team has shown notable improvement over the previous three legs of the league, finishing sixth in the opener, fifth in the second leg, and achieving a strong second-place finish in the third leg, which earned them 175 points.

On the women’s side, Qatar enters the tournament in sixth place with 95.794 points. The Czech Republic leads the rankings with 343.467 points, followed closely by Ukraine with 332.157 points and France with 316.872 points. Hungary and Romania follow in fourth and fifth places, respectively, with 202.482 points and 159.865 points. The women’s team has gathered a total of 45 points from their previous three legs of the competition.

As Qatar’s teams prepare to take the court, their performances in Hungary could significantly impact their standings in this prestigious league, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
