Community Invited to Volunteer for Bookarama and Local Events

Local residents in east Auckland are encouraged to participate in several community events from August 30 to September 12, focusing on volunteer opportunities and public meetings. The most prominent event is the annual Bookarama charity book sale, which is organized by the Rotary Club of Howick. Scheduled for October 1-5, 2023, at Howick College, the event aims to raise funds for numerous local charitable initiatives. Volunteers are needed to assist with the collection and sorting of donated books, puzzles, games, DVDs, CDs, and LPs. Memories of Cockle Bay School and Local Elections

Cockle Bay School is seeking contributions from those connected to the institution. The school invites east Auckland residents—former students, teachers, parents, and community members—to share memories, photographs, and memorabilia. Items of particular interest include old class photos, school event programmes, newspaper clippings, and personal anecdotes that reflect the school’s history. In preparation for the upcoming local elections, two public meetings will provide voters with the opportunity to meet candidates.
