Jennifer Lopez Emphasizes Self-Worth After Ben Affleck Divorce
Jennifer Lopez has expressed her desire for a partner who genuinely appreciates her for who she is, following her divorce from Ben Affleck. The singer, now 56, ended her marriage to Affleck, 53, in January 2025 after two years together. During a recent performance in Las Vegas, Lopez highlighted the importance of respect and understanding in her next relationship.
Lopez made these remarks while performing her 1999 hit, If You Had My Love, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace as part of her residency. In a video shared on her Instagram, she reflected on the evolution of her interpretation of the song over the years.
“When I first sang it, I was very young,” she said. “I was a little baby in the woods and I sang it with a lot of hope.” She continued, “But I’ve also sung it while I was sad and I’ve sung it when I was happy. But now, today, you know how I sing it? I sing it in power.”
Lopez emphasized a critical message about love and respect. She stated, “Because the truth is, if you wanted to have my love, you would have to earn it. You would have to treat me right. You would have to respect me.” This declaration underscores her commitment to prioritizing her self-worth and setting clear expectations in future relationships.
The singer’s candid remarks resonate with many fans, particularly those who admire her resilience and growth after high-profile romantic experiences. Lopez’s journey, including her marriage to Affleck, has often been in the public eye, and her recent statements reflect a personal evolution that many find relatable.
As she continues her residency in Las Vegas, Lopez is not just performing songs but also sharing personal insights that connect deeply with her audience. Her focus on empowerment and self-respect serves as an inspiration, particularly for those navigating their own relationships.
Lopez’s performance and message illustrate a broader trend in popular culture where public figures are increasingly emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance and mutual respect in love. Through her music and personal narrative, she encourages others to seek relationships that honor their true selves, setting a powerful example for her fans worldwide.
