Shah Rukh Khan Set to Dominate Screens with ‘King’ Release
Shah Rukh Khan is poised to make a significant return to the big screen with the action-packed film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. Scheduled for an international release on December 24, 2026, the film is generating considerable excitement among fans and industry insiders alike. This release is set to provide a thrilling conclusion to the cinematic year, catering to audiences worldwide.
The film will be distributed globally through a collaboration involving Red Chillies Entertainment (RCE), Marflix Pictures (MP), and the renowned Yash Raj Films (YRF). This partnership is noteworthy, as these companies previously collaborated for the successful global releases of Jawan and Dunki in 2023, both of which significantly enhanced Shah Rukh Khan’s international appeal. With King, this trio is aiming high once again, focusing on a large-scale production that emphasizes spectacle and star power.
Pritesh Raniga from Forum Films, responsible for the film’s release in New Zealand and the Fiji Islands, expressed enthusiasm about the project. He noted, “2026 is set to be an exhilarating year for Indian cinema, with many highly anticipated films on the horizon. King is definitely one of our favorites! As lifelong SRK fans, we are thrilled to bring this cinematic experience to the big screens in New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. The excitement is palpable!”
As expectations rise, King is already being touted as one of the largest Indian film releases of 2026. The anticipation has intensified following the title reveal, which offered early insights into a darker and more intense portrayal of Khan’s character. His dramatic delivery of the line, “Darr nahi, deshshat hoon. (I am not fear, I am terror),” has already sparked significant discussion on social media, reinforcing the film’s promise of a gripping narrative.
The title was unveiled last year on Khan’s birthday, a moment that director Siddharth Anand commemorated as a tribute to the star’s legacy. The reveal video not only showcased the first look at Khan’s character but also marked Anand’s second collaboration with the actor, following the blockbuster success of Pathaan. This combination of personal tribute and promotional strategy set the stage for a highly anticipated release.
With its Christmas Eve premiere approaching, King aims to attract a broad audience, positioning itself as a major festive attraction in international markets. The film is expected to resonate strongly with fans of Indian cinema, particularly in regions such as New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, where anticipation is already on the rise.
As Shah Rukh Khan prepares to don the crown once again, the film promises not just entertainment but also a celebration of his enduring legacy in the film industry.
