SkyCity Unveils Santa’s Magical Wonderland to Spark Christmas Joy
SkyCity has launched Santa’s Magical Wonderland on Level 7 of Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower, aiming to rekindle the festive spirit in the city. This new attraction allows families to meet Santa Claus and share their Christmas wishes in a whimsical setting, reminiscent of cherished holiday traditions.
Auckland has seen a decline in festive experiences in recent years, with notable losses including Smith & Caughey’s Santa’s Enchanted Forest and Farmers’ famous winking Santa, which retired in 2019. The ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and business closures have further dampened the holiday atmosphere.
Caroline Ah-Chong Douglas, SkyCity’s sales and marketing general manager, expressed enthusiasm for the new installation, highlighting its intention to enhance the festive experiences previously available in Auckland. She stated, “Santa’s Magical Wonderland builds on the legacy of other Christmas attractions, offering families a chance to create new memories.”
The transformation of the circular corridor, once home to a bar and an Esports arena, into a festive wonderland marks a significant shift for the venue. Visitors can expect to see familiar sights from past holiday seasons, bringing a sense of nostalgia alongside new attractions.
Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including photo opportunities with Santa and interactive installations that celebrate the joy of the season. As Aucklanders seek to reclaim their Christmas spirit, SkyCity’s initiative may play a crucial role in reviving holiday cheer in the city.
Santa’s Magical Wonderland opens its doors in December 2023, inviting residents and visitors alike to embrace the festive season once more. With a focus on community and tradition, SkyCity aims to provide an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the magic of Christmas.
As the city gears up for the holiday season, this new attraction represents a beacon of hope and joy, reminding Aucklanders of the importance of togetherness during this special time of year.
