Talent Shines at Porirua Finals with Free Tickets for Youth
The finals of the highly anticipated Porirua Has Talent competition will take place on August 16, 2023, at Te Rauparaha Arena, starting at 10:30 AM. The event features an array of performers, including sensational singers, gravity-defying dancers, and multi-talented musicians. This vibrant showcase promises to be an exciting culmination of local talent.
Tickets for the event are available at www.poriruahastalent.nz. They are free for all attendees under the age of 25 and priced at just $15 for adults. Event organiser Tania Carr expressed her enthusiasm for the finals, noting, “We saw some really innovative and exciting new performers at the auditions.” She added that the event also welcomes back standout acts from previous competitions.
The auditions elicited emotional responses from both performers and the audience. “There were several ‘pinch-me’ moments and more than a few tears with some very moving performances… but you’ll have to come and see for yourself!” Carr remarked. Many contestants have had limited opportunities to showcase their talents publicly, often performing only for family and friends. Porirua Has Talent offers them a unique platform to express their abilities.
Contestants echoed Carr’s sentiments, stating, “This gives us the chance to showcase our self-taught talent and show people that you can do what you put your mind to.” One participant shared, “It’s always been my dream to perform in something, and now I finally get to.” Another contestant noted, “We feel like we have created something really special in Porirua, and we want to share it with the whole community.”
The finals will feature a panel of esteemed judges, including Ainslie Allen, a New Zealand Alt Country singer-songwriter; Fredwyn Kisona of Tomorrow People; acclaimed dancer and choreographer Aroha Davidson; and singer/MC Nathan Lopa. Carr also highlighted that the judges will perform during the event, adding to the excitement of the day.
Attendees can look forward to a festive atmosphere, with kai and snacks provided throughout the event. For those interested in attending, tickets can be secured at www.poriruahastalent.nz. This event not only showcases talent but also fosters a sense of community, encouraging participation and support for the performers.
