Al Duhail Aims for Quarter-Finals in Amir Cup Showdown
DOHA, QATAR: Al Duhail is set to face Al Waab today at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium in their quest for a place in the quarter-finals of the Amir Cup. This match marks the beginning of the knockout stage of the tournament, which will run until Sunday.
Coaches Highlight Importance of Focus
In a pre-match press conference, Al Duhail’s assistant coach Fares Bouzid emphasized the critical nature of today’s fixture. “This is a crucial match in a tournament that means a great deal to Al Duhail, and we must give everything to win the title,” he stated. Bouzid added that the team has prepared thoroughly and anticipates a challenging encounter against their opponents.
“We’ve studied Al Waab closely, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and will fight with full focus and determination to secure qualification,” he said, underscoring the team’s commitment to advancing in the competition.
Al Waab Ready to Compete
Al Waab, a Second Division team, earned their spot in the Round of 16 by defeating Lusail in the preliminary stage. Their coach, Ahmed Abdelsalam Mohamed, expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to rise to the occasion. “We’re looking forward to delivering our best performance against Al Duhail,” he noted. “The team is fully prepared, and we aim to show a level worthy of this highly competitive tournament.”
Meanwhile, Al Wakrah, positioned sixth in the Qatar Stars League, is also gearing up for their match against Al Sailiya at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. Al Wakrah’s coach, Vicente Moreno, conveyed excitement about the prestigious competition, stating, “We’re excited to perform well in a competition that means a lot to us and everyone involved.” He acknowledged the challenge posed by the strong teams in the tournament but maintained a firm belief in his team’s ambitions.
Al Sailiya’s coach, Mirghani Al Zain, expressed eagerness for the opportunity to compete. “We are preparing to compete in a tournament that is dear to everyone’s hearts. The players are striving to give their best, and despite the difficulty of our situation, we are determined to seize the opportunity to qualify for the next round,” he said.
