Doha Equestrian Tour Launches with H H the Father Amir Prix
The inaugural H H the Father Amir Equestrian Prix 2026 is set to kick off the Doha Equestrian Tour, promising significant international engagement and a prize pool exceeding €3.3 million. This prestigious event will take place from January 2 to 31, 2026, at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, featuring over 240 riders from around the globe.
Organizers have confirmed readiness for the championship, which serves as the first event of the season. Bader bin Mohammed Al-Darwish, President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, emphasized that this event is a critical component of the Doha Equestrian Tour, which consists of ten international championships rated from one to five stars. The tour is scheduled to continue until April 4, 2026, with a total prize pool projected to surpass €10 million.
Significance of the Event
Al-Darwish noted the importance of the championship on the sporting calendar, highlighting its role as a national platform that meets international standards. This aligns with the State of Qatar’s vision of utilizing sports as a catalyst for sustainable development and enhancing its global profile. He remarked, “This championship holds particular importance as it sets the stage for Qatar’s commitment to equestrian sports.”
The event carries deep symbolic significance, named after H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who has been instrumental in developing Qatar’s sports infrastructure and promoting equestrianism as a vital element of the nation’s culture. This championship is seen as an opportunity to elevate Qatar’s position in the global equestrian community and to foster local and regional growth in the sport.
Additionally, the championship is expected to bolster the sports economy by attracting visitors, official delegations, and industry stakeholders. Its timing, coinciding with other international sporting events in Qatar, aims to enhance economic and media impact while solidifying Doha’s status as a premier global sporting destination.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, reiterated the federation’s commitment to establishing a sustainable sporting legacy rooted in quality and innovation, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The organizing committee has prioritized setting high standards for organizational excellence and competitive quality, adhering to the guidelines of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
The event features a diverse program, including competitions rated from one to five stars, as well as categories for junior and youth riders. This inclusivity aims to promote broad participation and talent development across all four rounds of the championship. Sheikh Ahmed confirmed that all organizational and technical preparations at the Longines Arena have been finalized, ensuring a smooth experience for both participants and spectators.
With comprehensive arrangements in place, including judging, logistics, hospitality, media operations, and broadcasting, the event aims to deliver an exceptional sporting experience. The Doha Equestrian Tour is positioned to become a highlight on the global equestrian calendar, showcasing Qatar’s dedication to the sport and its future.
