Hajmah Claims Gr.3 Prix Nevadour Title in Dominant Performance
In a remarkable display of talent, Hajmah secured her place among the top fillies of her generation by winning the Gr.3 (PA) Prix Nevadour on March 15, 2024, at La Teste. The race, exclusively for four-year-old mares, spanned a distance of 1,900 metres and featured a competitive field of eight entrants.
Trained by Thomas Fourcy and ridden by jockey Fabrice Veron, Hajmah showcased her prowess while carrying the colours of Al Shaqab Racing. She entered this event fresh off a significant victory in the Gr.1 (PA) Qatar Derby des Pur-Sang Arabes de 4 ans at Chantilly, marking her third win at the Group (PA) level.
Race Highlights
Hajmah started slowly, settling at the rear as Ghaidaa took the lead, accompanied by Alhaan and the highly regarded Lacaro du Croate. The field raced primarily between the middle and far side of the track, with Intisar de Monlau making a move on the inside, inching closer to the front as they approached the final bend. Meanwhile, Hajmah remained in last position.
As the horses entered the home straight, Hajmah exhibited strong form but needed to navigate the widest path as the field drifted to the stands’ side in search of better ground. Once she found clear space, Hajmah unleashed an impressive turn of foot, surging past the favourite and then catching up to Geneva, who had taken the lead.
In a thrilling finish, Hajmah won decisively by three-quarters of a length. Geneva claimed second place, while Lacaro du Croate managed to hold on for third.
Background and Pedigree
Bred by Al Shaqab Racing, Hajmah is the offspring of Easter de Faust, a previous winner of the Gr.1 (PA) Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches over 2,000 metres at three years old, as well as a Gr.3 (PA) winner over 1,600 metres the same year. Easter de Faust is a half-sister to Battash De Faust, known for multiple victories over 1,400 metres and a third-place finish in a Gr.1 (PA) race over 1,600 metres in Doha at three.
With this latest triumph, Hajmah further establishes her reputation within the racing community, promising an exciting future as she continues to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
