Hajmah Triumphs in Gr.3 Prix Nevadour at La Teste
In a remarkable display of talent, Hajmah secured victory in the Gr.3 (PA) Prix Nevadour at La Teste, solidifying her reputation as one of the leading fillies of her generation. This race, exclusively for four-year-old mares, covered a distance of 1,900 meters and featured eight competitors.
Trained by Thomas Fourcy and ridden by Fabrice Veron, Hajmah represented Al Shaqab Racing. The Purebred Arabian mare entered the contest following a significant win against male competitors in the Gr.1 (PA) Qatar Derby des Pur-Sang Arabes de 4 ans at Chantilly, marking this latest triumph as her third Group (PA) victory.
Race Dynamics and Strategy
Hajmah experienced a slow start, settling at the rear as the race unfolded. Ghaidaa, with jockey Muraaqib, led the charge, closely followed by Alhaan and the highly regarded Lacaro du Croate. As the field navigated between the middle and far side of the track, Intisar de Monlau advanced on the inside, challenging the leader, while Hajmah remained at the back.
As the horses entered the home straight, Hajmah, despite still being in last position, showed promise. Angling wide to find better ground, she displayed remarkable speed within the final 400 meters. She swiftly passed the favourite and then overtook Geneva, who had taken the lead.
Hajmah ultimately won decisively by three-quarters of a length, with Geneva securing second place and Lacaro du Croate finishing third.
Pedigree and Heritage
Bred by Al Shaqab Racing, Hajmah is the progeny of Easter de Faust, a Gr.1 (PA) champion over 2,000 meters in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches. Easter de Faust also won the Gr.3 (PA) over 1,600 meters in the same year. Additionally, she is a half-sister to Battash De Faust, known for multiple victories over 1,400 meters and a third-place finish in a Gr.1 (PA) race at Doha.
Hajmah’s continued success illustrates her exceptional capabilities on the racetrack and highlights the strength of her lineage, ensuring her place among the elite in Arabian horse racing.
