Hamad Al-Hammadi Elected President of Qatar Table Tennis Association
Hamad Ahmed Al-Hammadi has been elected President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) for the term 2025-2028, following his acclamation during the recent General Assembly meeting held in Doha. This election marks a significant transition for the federation, as Al-Hammadi takes over from Khalil Al-Mohannadi, who has led the organization for over three decades.
New Leadership and Recognition
The General Assembly meeting, chaired by Al-Mohannadi, reached a quorum with the attendance of members, club representatives, and officials from the Qatar Olympic Committee. Al-Mohannadi was unanimously named honorary president, acknowledging his extensive contributions to the QTTA since the early 1990s. Under his leadership, Qatar has established itself as a respected hub for international table tennis.
Al-Hammadi, a former national table tennis star, expressed his commitment to uphold the federation’s legacy. He stated, “This role is a historic trust and a double responsibility to preserve our achievements.” He aims to continue fostering global success while emphasizing youth development and the discovery of promising Qatari talents. He added that the new board will pursue “continuity with renewal” to enhance Doha’s status in the sport.
Plans for the Future
In addition to Al-Hammadi’s election, Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi was appointed Secretary General, with Jaber Saeed Afifa, Mohammed Hassan Al-Rumaihi, and Abdullah Bader Al-Sada joining the Board of Directors, all by acclamation. Secretary General Al-Mohannadi emphasized the importance of building on past achievements. “Our focus will be on supporting clubs, developing local competitions, and providing the best possible support for our national teams,” he remarked.
The General Assembly also addressed administrative matters, ratifying minutes from previous meetings, reviewing the 2024-2025 Board report, discussing participation plans for future events, and approving the 2026 draft budget. The new leadership reflects Qatar’s ongoing commitment to institutional maturity and innovation, ensuring the sustained international prominence of table tennis in the region.
As the QTTA enters this new chapter, it aims to strengthen its infrastructure and enhance the competitive landscape for players at all levels. The leadership transition is poised to bring fresh perspectives while honoring the federation’s rich history and achievements.
