Perrie Edwards Announces Second Pregnancy After Previous Losses
Perrie Edwards has revealed that she is expecting her second child with her fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 32-year-old former member of the popular girl group Little Mix shared that she kept her pregnancy secret from friends and family until she felt confident that “everything was good.” This decision comes after the couple experienced the heartache of losing two babies in the past.
In an interview with Glamour magazine, Edwards explained her reasons for withholding the news. She expressed her distress at seeing speculation about her potential pregnancy circulating on social media, stating that it felt intrusive. “There’s two ways to look at it,” she said, reflecting on the comments made online. “You’re saying the woman looks either overweight or she’s got a belly, or whatever it is that you think you’re entitled to comment on. But then, on the other hand, it’s not your news to share. It’s got nothing to do with you.”
Edwards acknowledged that her previous experiences influenced her decision to keep the pregnancy private for as long as possible. “For me, with this pregnancy, I hadn’t even told the majority of my family or friends yet because of what we went through in the past,” she explained. The couple’s journey through loss has clearly shaped their approach to this new chapter in their lives.
The pop star’s announcement has sparked a wave of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Many have expressed their excitement for the couple and shared their well-wishes as they prepare to welcome their second child. The public reaction highlights the deep connection fans feel with Edwards, particularly given her candidness about her past struggles.
Perrie Edwards first gained fame as part of Little Mix, which formed on the UK version of The X Factor in 2011. Since then, she has established a successful solo career while navigating the challenges of motherhood and personal loss. Her openness about these experiences resonates with many, promoting important conversations about pregnancy and mental health.
As Edwards and Oxlade-Chamberlain look forward to expanding their family, their story serves as a reminder of the complexities surrounding pregnancy, especially for those who have faced loss. Their journey reflects both the joy and the sensitivity that often accompany such personal announcements.
