David Pasco Honored as Community Hero for Football Dedication
David Pasco has been recognized as the latest recipient of the Community Hero Award for his exceptional contributions to the Bucklands Beach Association Football Club (BBAFC). Since 2010, Pasco has dedicated countless hours to the club, demonstrating unwavering commitment and passion for fostering a supportive football culture.
Longstanding Commitment to Football
Pasco’s journey with BBAFC began when he joined the executive committee as treasurer, a role he held for a decade. After a brief hiatus in 2021, he returned to the club, assuming the position of vice president in 2022. His dedication was acknowledged with the prestigious Yellow Jacket award, the highest honor bestowed by BBAFC. Only three individuals have received this accolade prior to him, underscoring his loyalty and contribution to the club.
Rachel Penney, president of BBAFC, nominated Pasco for the award, highlighting his significant impact on the club’s community. She stated, “David dedicates many hours to BBAFC and has done for countless years, helping drive the passion and vision for BBAFC towards a culture of belonging and ownership amongst the players, coaches, and supporters.”
A Community-Driven Initiative
The Community Hero Award, sponsored by New World Howick, aims to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to benefit the local community. Recipients not only receive a $50 New World gift card but are also featured prominently in local media. This initiative encourages community members to nominate those they believe deserve recognition for their efforts.
To nominate someone for the Community Hero Award, individuals are encouraged to submit a brief description of the nominee’s contributions, including specific actions and the impact those actions have had on the community. Nominations can be sent via email to [email protected], along with contact details and a high-resolution photo of the nominee.
Pasco’s recognition serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement and the positive effects that dedicated individuals can have on local organizations. His work with BBAFC exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and commitment that is vital to fostering a thriving community.
