As the New Zealand summer approaches, Port Waikato MP Andrew Bayly is looking forward to spending quality time with his family and enjoying some leisure activities. In a conversation with Anna Whyte, Bayly shared his plans for the upcoming break, highlighting family gatherings, favorite foods, and entertainment choices.

Bayly’s summer will be a family affair, with all three of his sons returning to New Zealand. One son has just arrived from Singapore, another from London, while the third remains in the country. The family will gather in Paihia on Christmas Day before heading to his brother’s place for a few days. Following that, they plan to visit the Coromandel region, where they will indulge in activities such as golfing and fishing. Bayly also mentioned a potential trip to the South Island later in the summer.

When it comes to summer cuisine, Bayly enjoys making scones served with jam and cream. He noted that at their Coromandel destination, many visitors often stop by to enjoy the homemade treats.

His drink of choice for this season is a refreshing pisco sour, which complements the sunny weather. For reading, he expressed enthusiasm for diving into several books, particularly “How Not To Be a Politician” by Rory Stewart. He also expressed appreciation for the Post, indicating it remains a preferred read.

In terms of entertainment, Bayly is currently watching the television series Landman, which has caught his attention this summer. Music also plays a significant role in his plans, with Bayly favoring classic songs and artists like Rihanna for road trip playlists.

As for swimming spots, Bayly recommends the picturesque beach in Matarangi, known for its stunning four-kilometer stretch of coastline, ideal for enjoying the warm weather and creating lasting memories.

This summer promises to be a blend of family bonding and relaxation for Andrew Bayly, as he embraces the joys of the New Zealand summer with loved ones.
