Bannockburn Arts Trust to Host Final Exhibition at Woolshed
The Bannockburn Arts Charitable Trust will host its final art exhibition at the beloved woolshed venue on October 11, 2023. After 14 years of showcasing various artistic talents in this rustic setting, the trust has decided to relocate future events to the more formal Coronation Hall. Trustee Mark Christie expressed his disappointment, noting that the unique atmosphere of the shearing shed significantly enhanced the experience for attendees.
Christie stated, “It’s a real shame we can’t carry on using it, because it really adds a lot of atmosphere to the whole event.” Despite the venue change, the trust remains committed to supporting and promoting art and culture in the Bannockburn area.
This year’s exhibition promises to be a vibrant showcase, featuring approximately 80 pieces across diverse disciplines including ceramics and photography. The artworks will primarily come from both established and emerging artists within the Bannockburn region. Additionally, guest artists from Central Otago and Canterbury will contribute to the lineup.
Among the featured artists is Janyne Fletcher, an award-winning photographer from Ranfurly, whose works are highly anticipated. The exhibition will also include pieces from Mark Soltero, an abstract painter based in Christchurch, adding further variety to the artistic offerings.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, providing an opportunity for art enthusiasts to explore a rich tapestry of creativity in the final showcase at the woolshed. As the Bannockburn Arts Charitable Trust transitions to a new venue, it aims to continue fostering a love for art and culture in the community, even as it bids farewell to a cherished location.
