Whangarei Police Seek Witness Who Aided Assault Victim
Whangarei police are actively searching for a motorist who assisted an assault victim in the early hours of March 15, 2024. The driver, believed to be a member of the public, provided a ride to the victim shortly after the incident occurred in the Onerahi area.
According to Detective Sergeant Pieter Serfontein, the police are not seeking the motorist in connection with the assault itself. Instead, they believe that the individual’s information could be vital in advancing their investigation. “Sometime between 4:00 AM and 4:45 AM, the assault victim was picked up in the Onerahi area by a member of the public,” Serfontein noted.
Police urge anyone with details about this incident or the motorist to come forward. The cooperation of the public can play a crucial role in resolving this case and providing justice for the victim.
As the investigation progresses, authorities remain focused on gathering all relevant information. They encourage witnesses to share any observations they may have about the assault or the moments following it. The police department emphasizes that community support is essential in ensuring safety and accountability in the area.
If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Whangarei police directly. Your assistance could make a significant difference in the ongoing investigation.
