Zespri Unveils Ambitious 2035 Strategy to Transform Kiwifruit Market
Kiwifruit industry leader Zespri has officially launched its ambitious 2035 strategy at the Momentum Conference held in Tauranga. The company aims to double or even triple the value of global fruit sales, positioning itself as the world’s healthiest fruit brand by the year 2035. The two-day event kicked off today at Mercury Baypark Stadium, where over 600 participants, including kiwifruit growers, shareholders, industry leaders, and supply-chain partners, gathered to discuss the future of the industry.
During his keynote address, Zespri’s chief executive, Jason Te Brake, emphasized that the 2035 strategy is a response to a rapidly evolving global landscape. He outlined five critical factors that the company aims to address: shifting consumer expectations, increasing competition, climate pressures, geopolitical uncertainty, and accelerating technological advancements.
The conference marks the first gathering since Zespri’s brand refresh in 2020, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and growth in the kiwifruit sector. Te Brake noted the importance of adapting to these changes to ensure the long-term success of Zespri and its partners.
In addition to the strategic goals, Zespri is also focusing on sustainability practices to enhance its reputation and appeal among environmentally conscious consumers. The company plans to invest in research and development, aiming to create new varieties of kiwifruit that not only meet consumer preferences but also withstand the challenges posed by climate change.
As part of its strategy, Zespri will work closely with growers and stakeholders to implement best practices that ensure quality and sustainability throughout the supply chain. With this comprehensive approach, the company is poised to strengthen its market position and enhance the overall value of kiwifruit on a global scale.
The Momentum Conference serves as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among industry players, reinforcing the importance of unity in navigating the complexities of the market. Zespri’s commitment to its 2035 vision reflects its dedication to leading the kiwifruit industry into a new era of growth and sustainability.
As the event unfolds, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential outcomes of Zespri’s strategic initiatives, anticipating a positive impact on the entire kiwifruit ecosystem. With a clear roadmap in place, the company is confident in its ability to achieve its objectives and elevate the global perception of kiwifruit as a staple healthy option for consumers worldwide.
