Auckland Transport Seeks New Tenants for Mātiatia Units
Auckland Transport (AT) is preparing to invite expressions of interest for several commercial units at the Mātiatia ferry terminal, as current leases are set to expire next year. The units involved include those occupied by Shed 36, Waiheke Car Rentals, Go Rentals, and the E-Ride Waiheke kiosk. As the existing tenants transition to month-to-month leases, AT is conducting the necessary tender process to award new agreements.
During a recent workshop with the Waiheke Local Board, AT’s principal property manager, Thomas Goehring, provided an overview of the leasing process. He explained that the organization is currently evaluating the commercial units to ensure a smooth transition for future tenants. The units available for lease include Unit 1, which houses Shed 36 café; Unit 3B, where Waiheke Car Rentals operates; Unit 4, occupied by Go Rentals; and Unit 6, currently the site of the E-Ride Waiheke kiosk.
The call for expressions of interest is expected to attract various potential tenants, as these units play a vital role in serving both locals and visitors to the Waiheke Island area. The Mātiatia ferry terminal is a key transport hub, facilitating access to the island and contributing to its economy.
As Auckland Transport progresses through the tender process, community members are encouraged to stay informed about the upcoming opportunities. Those interested in leasing the commercial units can expect more detailed information to be made available in the coming weeks.
The changes at Mātiatia come as part of broader efforts by Auckland Transport to enhance services and facilities in the area, ensuring that the ferry terminal meets the needs of the community. Full details regarding the leasing process and requirements will be published in the next issue of Gulf News, which is set to be released shortly.
This initiative reflects Auckland Transport’s commitment to fostering local businesses and supporting economic growth in the region. As the current tenants prepare to wind down their operations, the transition to new leases will be closely monitored to ensure minimal disruption to services at the terminal.
