Al-Qahtani Secures Diamond Tour Victory in Thrilling Finale
In a display of skill and speed, Faris Saad Al-Qahtani clinched the Diamond Tour title at the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour on December 2, 2023. Riding Com du Rouet Z, Al-Qahtani delivered a remarkable performance, completing the 150 cm course in just 45 seconds. His victory highlighted an exciting evening of equestrian competition at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, Doha.
Exciting Performances Set the Stage
The event showcased a range of talented riders, starting with the Future Riders 90-cm class. Mohammed Al Sulaiti emerged victorious with a time of 28.13 seconds aboard Mazzeltof, narrowly defeating Salman Faisal Al Marri on Sandor and Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani on Zion II Vdk. H.E. Mirdif Ali Mirdif Al Qashouti, Qatar’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, recognized the young talent by presenting awards to the podium finishers.
In the Bronze Tour at 120 cm, Khalid Al-Hadi dominated the field, securing all three podium spots with times of 54.79 seconds, 56.07 seconds, and 57.89 seconds. The team event witnessed The Dome taking the lead with a time of 110.76 seconds, followed by Ajwad and Shahalil Al Shaqab.
Al-Qahtani’s Victory and Future Prospects
The anticipation built as the evening progressed, culminating in the Diamond Tour, where Al-Qahtani’s remarkable ride captivated the audience. Following him were Khalid Mohammed Al-Emadi, who finished in 45.96 seconds on Thor Ter Wilgen Z, and Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi, who took third place with a time of 47.46 seconds on Edison Z. The awards for the Diamond Tour were presented by Mohammed Jaber Al-Khayarin, Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab.
Abdullah Al-Marri, the tournament director, commented on the growing momentum within the championship. He noted, “The rise in participation reflects the riders’ readiness for the international championships at the end of December.” He emphasized that this competitive depth is vital for preparing athletes to perform at their best, adding that efforts are underway to ensure an exceptional event that aligns with Qatar’s esteemed position in global equestrian sport.
The evening concluded with a celebration of achievements and a renewed enthusiasm for the upcoming international competitions, marking a significant moment for equestrian enthusiasts and athletes alike.
