Equestrian Excitement: HH The Father Amir’s Prix Kicks Off in Doha

DOHA, QATAR: The second round of the HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix commenced on October 12, 2023, at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab. This prestigious event features over 240 riders competing as part of the ongoing Doha Equestrian Tour 2026.

Competition Highlights and Schedule

The first day of the competition started with a three-star class at a height of 135 cm. This was followed by another three-star class at 140 cm. The excitement escalated with five-star class competitions at both 140 cm and 150 cm, all held in the main Longines outdoor arena.

On the second outdoor arena, the schedule included a three-star class at 125 cm, followed by a one-star class at 110 cm. The Longines indoor arena also contributed to the variety, hosting a one-star class at 120 cm and a local class at 60 cm.

As the event continued on October 13, 2023, the Longines Main Outdoor Arena featured three-star classes at heights of 130 cm and 145 cm, along with two five-star classes at 145 cm and 155 cm, including a jump-off for added intensity. Notably, the five-star class at 150 cm marked a first for an international championship.

The second outdoor arena hosted a three-star class at 140 cm with a jump-off, while the indoor arena saw one-star competitions at 115 cm, an international junior class at 125 cm, and concluded with another one-star class at 125 cm. The day wrapped up with a local class at 80 cm.

Grand Prix Events and Local Talent

The competition culminates on October 14, 2023, with Grand Prix events spanning three categories. The main outdoor arena will feature a three-star Grand Prix at a height of 150 cm with a jump-off, alongside a five-star Grand Prix at 160 cm and a one-star Grand Prix at 130 cm, both with jump-offs.

The second outdoor arena will also showcase a three-star class at 130 cm and a local class at 100 cm. The Longines Indoor arena will host a one-star class at 115 cm and a junior class at 130 cm, both qualifying for Group 7. The event wraps up with another three-star class at 140 cm and a five-star class at 150 cm, comprising two rounds.

In the first round of this prestigious event, British rider Harry Charles clinched the Grand Prix title in the four-star category at a height of 155 cm, while fellow Briton Oliver Fletcher secured the Grand Prix title for the two-star category at 145 cm. Qatari talent shone brightly in the one-star category, with Hussein Saeed Haidan taking first place, followed by Saad Ahmed Al Saad in second, and Ghanem Nasser Al Qadi in third.
