Tiding Triumphs in Khor Al Adaid Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse
In a thrilling display of speed and skill, Tiding secured victory in the Khor Al Adaid Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse on March 15, 2024. The five-year-old chestnut, ridden by Marco Casamento, dominated the 2800-meter contest, showcasing his impressive abilities in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Powerful Performance Leads to Victory
The race unfolded with Tiding producing a remarkable burst of speed in the final stretch, overtaking the leader to win decisively by 2.5 lengths. This victory marks Tiding’s first Group win, adding to the success of trainer Gassim Al Ghazali and Casamento, who celebrated a double on the evening. With two wins from five outings this season, Tiding is establishing himself as a formidable competitor.
After the race, Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, Racing Manager for the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, presented the trophy to the horse’s owner, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Rashid Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Thani. The accolades reflect not only the horse’s talent but also the dedication of the team behind him.
Additional Highlights from the Race Day
The evening was equally fruitful for Al Ghazali and Casamento, who claimed their first victory earlier in the meeting with September Leaves, winning the Thoroughbred Fillies and Mares race. This set the stage for Tiding’s impressive performance, capturing the attention of racing enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, in another highlight of the event, Al Fareeq produced a strong performance in the Silver Sword Trial for 4-year-old Purebred Arabians. Ridden by Faleh Bughenaim, Al Fareeq surged forward in the final stages of the 2000-meter race, clinching victory by a narrow margin of quarter of a length. The owner, Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, celebrated the win with his team.
The Khor Al Adaid Cup not only highlighted the athleticism of the horses but also the strategic planning and execution by the jockeys and trainers involved. As the racing season progresses, both Tiding and Al Fareeq have set high expectations for their future performances.
