Tiding Triumphs at Khor Al Adaid Cup in Doha
In a remarkable display of speed and skill, Tiding clinched victory at the Khor Al Adaid Cup on October 15, 2023, held at the Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha. Ridden by Marco Casamento, the five-year-old chestnut horse dominated the 2800-meter race, showcasing a powerful performance that left competitors trailing.
Stellar Performance Secures First Group Win
Tiding delivered an electrifying final sprint, overtaking the leader in the home straight and finishing strong to win by 2.5 lengths. This victory marked Tiding’s first Group win, adding to the successful evening for trainer Gassim Al Ghazali and jockey Casamento, who celebrated a double at the event. Tiding’s win was particularly noteworthy as it was the horse’s second victory from five starts this season.
The trophy presentation followed the race, with Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, Racing Manager of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, awarding the prize to the owner, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Rashid Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Thani. The event underscored the growing prominence of equestrian sports in Qatar.
Additional Highlights from the Racecard
Earlier in the evening, Al Ghazali and Casamento celebrated their first win when September Leaves triumphed in the Thoroughbred Fillies and Mares race. This victory set the stage for Tiding’s impressive performance, highlighting the team’s excellent form.
In another exciting race, Al Fareeq demonstrated her prowess by winning the Silver Sword Trial for four-year-old Purebred Arabians. Ridden by Faleh Bughenaim, Al Fareeq surged ahead in the 2000-meter contest, securing a narrow victory by a quarter of a length. The owner, Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, was present to receive the award for this remarkable win.
The Khor Al Adaid Cup not only showcased thrilling horse racing but also highlighted the dedication of trainers, jockeys, and owners who continue to elevate the sport within the region. With such performances, both Tiding and Al Fareeq are set to become notable contenders in future competitions.
