Indian Opener Abhishek Sharma Hospitalised Before T20 World Cup Match
Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised due to an upset stomach just days before the crucial T20 World Cup match against Namibia. The 25-year-old opener was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday, according to an official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Sharma’s condition raises concerns for India’s campaign as they seek to defend their title in this highly competitive tournament. With a significant match scheduled for Thursday, his participation is now in doubt. The left-hander reported stomach issues that began after India’s opening game against the United States, where he unfortunately went out for a duck.
Team’s Support and Future Matches
The assistant coach of the Indian team, Ryan ten Doeschate, addressed the situation on Tuesday, expressing hope for Sharma’s recovery. He noted that the batsman is still facing “a few issues with his tummy” but remains optimistic that Sharma might be fit to play in a few days.
The news of Sharma’s hospitalisation comes as the Indian team gears up for a much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on Sunday. This match is expected to draw significant attention and will be crucial for both teams in the tournament.
Sharma’s performances leading up to the World Cup have been strong, making his potential absence a significant concern for the team. As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on his recovery and availability for upcoming matches.
