Qatar and Islamic Chamber Launch Halal E-Platform Agreement

During the 41st Meeting of the General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, held from February 14 to 16 in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Qatar Chamber and the Islamic Chamber signed a significant agreement to create a multilingual digital platform for Halal products and services. The signing ceremony was led by Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, and Sheikh Abdulla Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Islamic Chamber.

The delegation from Qatar Chamber included key Board Members, such as Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al-Mohamad, Abdulrahman bin Abduljalil Al Abdulghani, and Abdullah bin Mohamed Al-Emadi. The assembly’s agenda focused on important matters including the implementation of decisions from the previous session, the election of new Board Members, and the approval of the new chairman. Additionally, they reviewed the reports from the 70th and 71st meetings of the Chamber’s Finance Committee, which included discussions on the 2026 budget and 2024 financial statements.

Strengthening the Halal Sector

In a statement during the event, Sheikh Khalifa emphasized the rapid growth of the global Halal sector, highlighting its emergence as a standard for sustainability, quality, safety, and integrity. He stated, “Transforming the Halal system into a strategic leverage will strengthen the position of GCC countries as influential hubs regionally and globally, while supporting income diversification and food security.”

According to Sheikh Khalifa, the GCC region is at the forefront of the Halal sector due to its robust legislation, strong institutional frameworks, and significant investment in human capital. He advocated for the establishment of an integrated GCC Halal system that relies on unified standards, comprehensive legislative and regulatory frameworks, and improved accreditation and oversight systems, all in alignment with global best practices.

Collaboration and Confidence in Halal Products

Sheikh Khalifa also underscored the importance of collaboration among chambers of commerce within Islamic countries. He noted that such cooperation would help unify efforts to develop standards and specifications, thereby enhancing confidence in Halal products and promoting transparency and governance in the sector.

The agreement to establish the Halal e-platform is a strategic move that aims to bolster the Halal market, providing a vital resource for consumers and businesses alike. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of Qatar Chamber and the Islamic Chamber to advance the Halal industry and ensure its sustainable growth on a global scale.
