In a thrilling display of talent and determination, Al Maqam emerged victorious in the Baidda Algaa Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha, Qatar, on October 15, 2023. This marks the second consecutive year that the dark bay gelding, racing under the colors of Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, has clinched this prestigious title.

The six-year-old gelding faced a challenging start, having been drawn wide in the field for the Local Purebred Arabian Novice race, which spanned 1,700 metres. Jockey Pierre Charles Boudot strategically settled him at the back, allowing the race to develop before making his move. As the pack turned for home, Al Maqam accelerated with renewed vigor, responding to every challenge thrown his way. A late surge from Mared Al Zaeem made for a nail-biting finish, but Al Maqam held on to win by a neck.
