PSG Prepares for FIFA Intercontinental Cup Final Against Flamengo
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ramped up their preparations for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, scheduled for March 15, 2025, against Brazil’s CR Flamengo. The French champions conducted their first training session in Doha, Qatar, shortly after arriving from Paris, setting the stage for the highly anticipated match at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
Under the guidance of head coach Luis Enrique, PSG’s training focused on improving sharpness and ensuring recovery. The team aims to secure another prestigious trophy to add to their already impressive collection. Having managed their workloads in recent days, the players enter the final fresh and focused.
Path to the Final
PSG earned a direct entry into the final by winning the UEFA Champions League, while Flamengo had a challenging route to the decider. The Brazilian side triumphed in the FIFA Derby of the Americas, defeating Cruz Azul 2-1, before overcoming Egypt’s Pyramids FC 2-0 in the FIFA Challenger Cup.
Enrique emphasized the significance of the Intercontinental Cup, stating that it is a major objective for his squad this season. To ensure key players are ready for this pivotal match, several regular starters were rested during a narrow 3-2 victory over Metz in Ligue 1.
Squad Updates and Key Players
PSG has arrived in Doha with a formidable squad, featuring talents such as Nuno Mendes, Desire Doue, Joao Neves, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The team also welcomes back Ousmane Dembele, the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner, who is returning after an illness.
The only notable absence from the squad is Achraf Hakimi, who will miss the final due to an ankle injury. As PSG prepares for an intense matchup against an in-form Flamengo side, the team looks to make their mark on this international stage.
