Qatar Shooters Earn Four Medals at Arab Championship in Muscat

In a strong start to their campaign, Qatari shooters secured four medals, including two silver and two bronze, at the Arab Shooting and Airgun Championship held at the National Olympic Complex in Muscat, Oman. The championship, which features 141 marksmen from 14 countries, will conclude on December 26.

Qatar’s Medal Winners Shine

The standout performers for Qatar included Abdulrahman Al Sulaiti, who claimed silver in the 10-meter airgun individual youth category. Ritaj Al Yafai also earned silver, competing in the 10-meter airgun individual junior women’s category. In addition, Khalid Al Sharshani secured a bronze medal in the 10-meter airgun individual men’s category. The women’s team comprising Maha Al-Ali, Dalal Al-Qubaisi, and Fatima Al Abdulrahman brought home another bronze in the 10-meter airgun team event.

The Qatari delegation consists of 17 shooters, including men, women, and juniors from both genders, competing across various rifle and pistol events. The team is led by Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Aji, Executive Director of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation.

High Expectations for Future Competitions

Following the initial day of competition, Al Aji expressed pride in the performances of the Qatari shooters, highlighting the intensity and excitement of the matches. He noted that the team demonstrated exceptional skill and competitiveness against other Arab champions, resulting in their impressive medal tally.

“The competition was intense and exciting among most of the participating shooters from various Arab countries,” Al Aji told Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Looking ahead, Al Aji indicated that upcoming events will include the 10-meter air pistol, 25-meter pistol, and 50-meter rifle competitions. With strong performances already established, the Qatari shooting team aims to continue their success in these upcoming challenges.
