East Auckland Hosts Girls’ Sevens Tournament at Howick College
Some of New Zealand’s best young rugby talent will compete at a girls’ Sevens tournament this Saturday, November 15, 2024, at Howick College in east Auckland. The event is set to run from 09:00 to 13:30 and will feature top teams from across the region, including Counties Manukau and North Harbour.
The tournament serves as a crucial preparation for Howick College, the current Auckland Champions, as they aim to defend their title at the upcoming Condor Sevens National Tournament. Scheduled to take place next month at Mount Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty, this competition will bring together the best high school rugby talent from across the country.
In addition to the competitive matches, the tournament will feature a pop-up café offering a range of food and drinks. Proceeds from the café will support Howick College’s girls’ rugby team as they prepare for the national event. This initiative highlights the community’s commitment to fostering local talent and supporting young athletes.
With excitement building for both the tournament and the national championship, fans and families are encouraged to attend and cheer on their favorite teams. The event promises to be a vibrant showcase of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship, reflecting the growing popularity of women’s rugby in New Zealand.
