Top Young Rugby Talent Competes at Howick College Sevens Tournament
Some of New Zealand’s most promising young rugby players will showcase their skills this Saturday, November 15, 2024, at Howick College in Auckland. The tournament, running from 09:00 to 13:30, will gather top girls’ teams from across the Auckland region, including participants from Counties Manukau and North Harbour.
Howick College’s team, the reigning Auckland Champions, aims to use this tournament as a crucial preparation for the upcoming Condor Sevens National Tournament. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place next month in Mount Maunganui, located in the Bay of Plenty, where Howick College will strive to defend its national title.
The Sevens tournament promises to be an engaging event for spectators. A pop-up café will operate on-site, offering a variety of food and beverages. Proceeds from the café will support the Howick College girls’ team as they prepare for their national competition.
The tournament not only highlights the athletic talent present in Auckland but also supports the growth of women’s rugby in New Zealand. With the increasing popularity of the sport, events like this play a vital role in encouraging young athletes to pursue their passion for rugby and compete at higher levels.
As the excitement builds for this weekend’s tournament, local supporters and rugby enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and cheer for their teams. The event at Howick College is set to foster community spirit and celebrate the achievements of young female athletes in rugby.
