The Warriors Women are set to take on the Canberra Raiders in a much-anticipated matchup at Hamilton. The game, part of the NRLW season, will see the Warriors compete without key players due to injuries, reshaping their lineup significantly.

In a challenging turn of events, the team will be without five-eighth Patricia Maliepo, fullback Apii Nicholls, and halfback Emily Curtain. Maliepo is sidelined with a calf injury, while Nicholls is dealing with a pectoral injury. Fortunately, both are expected to return in the following week. Curtain, however, faces a longer recovery after sustaining a knee injury that will keep her out for the remainder of the season.

The absence of these players has prompted coach Ronald Griffiths to make critical adjustments to the team’s structure. Emmanita Paki will transition from centre to fullback, while Kaiyah Atai moves from the second row to centre. Additionally, Shakira Baker returns from injury to fill Maliepo’s No. 6 jersey, with Lydia Turua-Quedley shifting to that position from hooker. Capri Paekau will step in as the starting hooker.

The Warriors had initially planned to field the same 17 players who achieved a record-breaking 34-6 victory over the Bulldogs last Saturday. However, the roster changes have necessitated a strategic rethink. Wing Michaela Brake and prop Mya Hill-Moana remain unavailable due to personal reasons, further complicating the lineup.

The starting lineup for the Warriors Women includes:

– Emmanita Paki
– Payton Takimoana
– Tysha Ikenasio
– Kaiyah Atai
– Lavinia Tauhalaliku
– Shakira Baker
– Lydia Turua-Quedley
– Metanoia Fotu-Moala
– Capri Paekau
– Lavinia Kitai
– Maarire Puketapu
– Matekino Gray
– Laishon Albert-Jones

Interchange players available are Harata Butler (captain), Ivana Lauitiiti, Avery-Rose Carmont, Makayla Eli, Ashlee Matapo, and Tyra Wetere.

On the opposing side, the Canberra Raiders will field a strong lineup, featuring:

– Elise Simpson
– Mackenzie Wiki
– Leianne Tufuga
– Cheyelle Robins-Reti
– Relna Wuruki-Hosea
– Sereana Naitokatoka
– Zahara Temara
– Chloe Saunders
– Chante Temara
– Sophie Holyman
– Monalisa Soliola
– Jordyn Preston
– Simaima Taufa

Their interchange includes Emma Barnes, Tatiana Finau, Kerehitina Matua, Amelia Pasikala, Isabella Waterman, and Georgia Thomas.

As the Warriors prepare for this pivotal match, the focus will be on overcoming the challenges posed by injuries and maintaining the momentum from their recent victory. The clash against the Raiders promises to be a test of both skill and resilience for the Warriors Women.
