Maysara Claims Victory in Marmi Cup at Al Uqda Race Meeting
Doha, Qatar: Maysara showcased her exceptional skills by winning the prestigious Marmi Cup at the Al Uqda Race Meeting, a Local Thoroughbred Open Race covering 1200 meters. The six-year-old mare, trained by Hamad Al-Jehani for owner Mohammed Abdulhadi Al-Hajri, delivered an impressive performance, demonstrating a sharp turn of speed under jockey Pierre Charles Boudot to secure a convincing win.
Her decisive late surge enabled her to leave her competition behind, reinforcing her reputation for consistency at this level. The victory marked a significant highlight for Al-Jehani during the event. Following closely was Al Nasr Al Washeek, ridden by Ivan Rossi, who finished in second place, while Mutamarrid, with jockey Lukas Delozier, rounded out the podium in a competitive race.
Strong Performances Throughout the Day
Earlier in the day, the Purebred Arabian feature was won by Samsa Al Shahania, who maintained an unbeaten record this season with a determined win in the Purebred Arabian Handicap over 2200 meters. Representing Al Shahania Stud and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, the six-year-old horse displayed remarkable grit, responding effectively when challenged and edging out his rivals in the final moments.
This race highlighted the dominance of the stable, with Ward, also ridden by Boudot, finishing in second place, and Jalaad Al Shahania, under the guidance of Soufiane Saadi, securing third.
In an exciting start to the day, Neebrook made an impressive debut in Qatar by winning the opening Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. Trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki and ridden by Tomas Lukasek, the three-year-old showed professionalism, asserting himself in the straight to fend off late pressure and mark his local debut with a victory.
Notable Wins Highlight the Event
Anika delivered a commanding performance in the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, decisively breaking her maiden. Racing for Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, the filly accelerated under Megane Peslier, pulling away from her rivals and establishing herself as a promising contender.
Mabsam returned to winning form in the Local Thoroughbred Handicap, displaying determination during a tight finish. Representing Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, she was urged on by Salman Fahad Al-Hajri to fend off a late challenge and regain her confidence.
Waseelh dominated the Purebred Arabian Novice Plate, showing front-running prowess and never relinquishing control after a strong start. Trained by Julian Smart for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, she surged ahead under Marco Casamento to claim victory decisively.
Loaded Gun demonstrated grit in the Thoroughbred Handicap, clinching victory with a powerful finish. Trained by Gassim Al Ghazali for Khalid Nasser Al-Attiya, he completed a rider double for Casamento with a determined late surge.
Washington Street continued his upward trend with a convincing success in the Thoroughbred Handicap over 1200 meters. Trained by Al-Jehani for Al Ghaf Stud, the four-year-old horse accelerated effectively under Boudot, decisively sealing the race.
The Al Uqda Race Meeting highlighted the talent and dedication present in the racing community, with several horses and trainers showcasing their skills and determination on a competitive day in Doha.
