Maysara delivered an impressive performance to win the Marmi Cup, a key event at the Al Uqda Race Meeting held in Doha, Qatar on March 15, 2024. The six-year-old mare, trained by Hamad Al-Jehani for owner Mohammed Abdulhadi Al-Hajri, showcased her speed and stamina over the 1,200-meter distance, sealing the victory with a powerful late surge.

Under the skilled ride of jockey Pierre Charles Boudot, Maysara accelerated sharply in the final stretch, overtaking her competitors to secure a convincing win. This result not only highlights her consistent form at this level but also marks a significant achievement for her trainer during the race meeting. Following Maysara was Al Nasr Al Washeek, ridden by Ivan Rossi, who finished in second place, while Mutamarrid, partnered by Lukas Delozier, rounded out the podium in a competitive field.

Other Race Highlights

Earlier in the day, the spotlight also shone on Samsa Al Shahania, who maintained his unbeaten streak this season by winning the Purebred Arabian Handicap over 2,200 meters. Trained by Rudy Nerbonne and representing Al Shahania Stud, the six-year-old demonstrated tenacity and skill under the guidance of Delozier, holding off challenges from his rivals in the final moments.

The event was a showcase of talent, with Ward, also ridden by Boudot, finishing in second place, and Jalaad Al Shahania, under Soufiane Saadi, completing the top three. Earlier, Neebrook marked a successful debut in Qatar by winning the opening Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, demonstrating professionalism and composure to secure victory on his local debut. Trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki and ridden by Tomas Lukasek, the three-year-old horse proved his capabilities by asserting himself in the straight to fend off late pressure.

In the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, Anika displayed a commanding performance, decisively breaking her maiden with confidence. Racing for Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, the filly pulled ahead under the skilled handling of Megane Peslier, establishing herself as a promising competitor for future races.

Another notable performance came from Mabsam, who regained winning form in the Local Thoroughbred Handicap. Trained by Jihad El Ahmad and representing Injaaz Stud, she showed remarkable determination to win a tightly contested race, with Salman Fahad Al-Hajri ensuring she maintained her lead against a late challenge.

Waseelh delivered a dominant front-running display in the Purebred Arabian Novice Plate, maintaining control after a strong start. Trained by Julian Smart for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, she pulled away impressively under Marco Casamento to secure a comfortable victory.

Finally, Loaded Gun showcased resilience and timing to clinch victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap, finishing strongly in a blanket finish. Trained by Gassim Al Ghazali for Khalid Nasser Al-Attiya, he completed a rider double for Casamento with a determined late charge. Washington Street continued his upward trajectory with a convincing win in another Thoroughbred Handicap, demonstrating his quickening ability under Boudot to decisively seal the race.

The Al Uqda Race Meeting showcased a series of exhilarating performances, reaffirming the event’s status as a highlight on the racing calendar in Qatar.
