Hamad Al-Hammadi Elected QTTA President, Charting New Course

Hamad Ahmed Al-Hammadi has been elected President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) for the 2025-2028 term by acclamation, marking a significant transition for the organization. The election took place during the General Assembly meeting held in Doha, where a quorum was established to facilitate the decision-making process.

Chaired by outgoing President Khalil Al-Mohannadi, the meeting brought together members of the General Assembly, club representatives, and officials from the Qatar Olympic Committee. During this session, Al-Mohannadi was honored as the honorary president of the QTTA, a recognition of his three decades of exceptional service to the federation.

Leadership Changes and Vision Forward

In addition to Al-Hammadi’s election, the assembly appointed Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi as Secretary General. Meanwhile, Jaber Saeed Afifa, Mohammed Hassan Al-Rumaihi, and Abdullah Bader Al-Sada were also elected to the Board of Directors, all by acclamation.

Khalil Al-Mohannadi concluded his tenure as one of the longest-serving leaders in Qatari sports history. Since the early 1990s, he transformed the QTTA into a well-organized and internationally respected body. Under his leadership, Doha became a regular host of prestigious events such as World Championships and various international table tennis tournaments, enhancing Qatar’s status within the global sports community.

Reflecting on his lengthy career, Al-Mohannadi stated, “These years were not merely administrative work, but a journey to build a Qatari sporting legacy that we all take pride in. Every medal, every achievement was thanks to the dedication of boards, coaches, players, and administrators. My message to the new board, led by my dear brother Hamad Al-Hammadi, is that you are the best to carry the torch and take table tennis to new heights.”

Al-Hammadi, a former national table tennis star, described his new role as a historic responsibility. He underscored the importance of preserving the federation’s legacy while aiming for future successes. “We will continue the path of global successes while focusing on youth development and discovering promising Qatari talents,” he affirmed, emphasizing the board’s commitment to “continuity with renewal” to strengthen Doha’s position as a global table tennis capital.

Future Goals and Strategic Initiatives

The newly appointed Secretary General, Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi, highlighted the intention to build upon past achievements. “Our focus will be on supporting clubs, developing local competitions, and providing the best possible support for our national teams. This is a continuation of the dedication and excellence established by my father, Khalil Al-Mohannadi,” he stated.

The General Assembly also ratified the minutes from the previous meeting, reviewed the 2024-2025 Board report, discussed future participation plans, and approved the draft budget for 2026. This new leadership marks a pivotal moment for the QTTA, reflecting Qatar’s ongoing commitment to institutional maturity and the sustained international prominence of table tennis.

As the QTTA embarks on this new chapter, the federation aims to enhance its global standing while nurturing local talent, ensuring that the sport continues to thrive in Qatar.
