Doha 2030 Asian Games Organising Committee Holds Inaugural Meeting
Doha, Qatar: The Organising Committee for the 21st Asian Games – Doha 2030 convened its inaugural meeting today, led by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. This meeting marks a significant step in the preparations for the upcoming continental sporting event, scheduled to take place in the State of Qatar.
Strategic Planning and Key Appointments
During the session, HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Board Member of the Organising Committee, presented the main master plan for the Games. He shared critical updates on the organisational and preparatory aspects, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to ensure the event’s success.
The Board also announced the appointment of Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain as Chief Executive Officer of the Doha 2030 Asian Games Organising Committee. In this pivotal role, Dr. Al Buainain will manage executive operations and guarantee the effective execution of the committee’s plans, adhering to the highest organisational standards.
Collaboration and Sustainable Legacy
Efforts to enhance coordination among stakeholders from both the public and private sectors were a focal point of the meeting. The Board aims to unify efforts and foster close cooperation to deliver a successful edition of the Games that showcases Qatar’s capabilities in hosting major sporting events.
Discussions also included themes surrounding the sustainable legacy of the Games, optimal use of existing sports infrastructure, and the importance of leveraging national expertise in organising significant championships. The Board stressed the need to adopt best practices in areas such as innovation, sustainability, and governance.
The inaugural meeting of the Organising Committee’s Board of Directors is a foundational step in preparations for the Doha 2030 Asian Games. This initiative aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and reinforces the country’s leading role in advancing sports across the Asian continent.
